Early Childhood - Assistant Teacher

Apple Blossom Waldorf School & Family Center is seeking an Early Childhood assistant teacher for the 2025-26 school year. This is a part time, hourly position in our Nursery and Kindergarten classrooms with children ages 18 months-3 years old or 3 - 6 years old. As our school is growing there is room to grow professionally.

 

Skills

  • Interest in working with children under the lead teachers guidance

  • Enjoy daily active engagement in work (for example, gardening and caring for the classrooms)

  • Enjoy domestic activities such as preparing snack or dish washing

  • Be attentive to all areas involving the safety and well-being of the children

  • Be a quiet, but active presence in the classroom

  • Work with children one-to-one and in a small group

  • Be open and receptive to suggestions 

  • Radiate a joyful inner mood

  • Maintain confidentiality

  • Re-direct parental questions to the lead teacher

  •  

Qualifications:  A warm and open disposition with the ability to lovingly care for children of mixed ages. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and hold a bachelor’s degree or associate degree. Eagerness to learn about Apple Blossom and Waldorf education. Waldorf training and experience preferred, but not required.

Requirements: The ability to meet Connecticut OEC licensing requirements including yearly professional development, as well as to pass a CT criminal background check. To be able to lift and carry small children during caregiving times.

Apple Blossom Waldorf School and Family Center is a full member of WECAN. In its 20th year, the School and Family Center has expanded in recent years and is a warm and supportive community.

Web and Graphic Designer 

Job Type: Part time, Contract
Salary: $40 - $65/hour

We’re looking for a creative, skilled, and warm Web and Graphic Designer to freelance with our team to enhance our digital presence and visual branding.

Job Summary:
To create visually appealing designs for our website, social media platforms, marketing campaigns, and other digital assets. You will work closely with our Enrollment & Communications Coordinator to create our marketing materials for the year and ensure that our brand’s aesthetic is consistent across all online and offline platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage updates to our website layout, landing pages, and other web-based assets with a focus on user experience (UX) and interface design (UI).

  • Create visually engaging graphics, infographics, social media posts, banners, and digital ads to support marketing and advertising initiatives 

  • Collaborate with Enrollment & Communications Coordinator to ensure designs align with overall branding and marketing goals.

  • Stay updated on design trends, tools, and best practices, ensuring our digital assets are fresh and relevant.

  • Work with Enrollment & Communications Coordinator to ensure the implementation of web designs and maintain website functionality and user experience.

  • Prepare final designs and assets for production, ensuring they meet quality standards and technical specifications.

  • Participate in brainstorming/conception of new campaigns, websites, or digital experiences.

  • Troubleshoot design issues and ensure consistent visual branding across all platforms.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Web Designer, Graphic Designer, or similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing web and graphic design skills.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and other design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, etc.).

  • Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and web design best practices (knowledge of JavaScript is a plus).

  • Experience designing responsive websites and understanding of mobile-first design principles.

  • Strong knowledge of typography, color theory, and visual design principles.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple design projects simultaneously.

  • Detail-oriented, with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to meet deadlines.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Familiarity with SEO principles and how design impacts site performance.
